Life advice

I am too young to give life advice. Regardless, here are things that I have learned through bad and brilliant and banal experiences:

  • Find a band that you absolutely adore. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks of it, how “cool” it is, whether it’s One Direction or The Hollies. All that matters is how it makes you feel.
  • Everything gets better with time.
  • Don’t waste your time with someone who doesn’t treat you properly. Relationships (romantic or otherwise) are a two-way street.
  • Facebook photos are not an indication of one’s happiness.
  • Shiny magazines are all well and good if you understand they are just fluff. Taking them too seriously will make you hate yourself.
  • See musicians perform live. Live music is indescribably wonderful, not because it’s perfect but because it’s full of passion and presence.
  • Being interested in fashion and makeup doesn’t make you vain or shallow.
  • Stop hating your body. If it can perform all the basic functions of keeping you in reasonable health, you’re doing just fine.
  • Read good books. Being well-read teaches you more about language than any English class.
  • Everyone gets confused, everyone gets lonely, everyone gets overwhelmed. You are not the only one.
  • Hot showers make everything better.
  • So does hot chocolate.
