2018 has been off to a pretty good start so far – as well as exploring a little more of my tiny corner of the planet, I was nominated for the Mystery Blogger Award (originally created by Okoto Enigma) by the lovely person behind Dazed and Still Dreaming! Their blog is super active and always publishing interesting posts, you should absolutely check it out if you haven’t already!
I’m pretty bad at following the instructions for blog awards, but I’ll do my best! The rules are listed here, but I’m skipping the part where I write my own questions and nominate other blogs – if anyone wants to answer the questions I answered myself, please do so!
Questions Asked Of Me:
If you had one superpower, what would you wish to have?
I’m pretty happy with an ordinary, non-superpowered life but the ability to heal people who were sick or injured would be amazing.
Out of every fantasy realm you can think of, if you had to be stuck in one world, where would you find yourself?
Absolutely the magical world of Harry Potter and Hogwarts. When my eleventh birthday passed with no owl, I was unreasonably disappointed. I’m sure most fantasy realms would be pretty scary in reality, but the wizarding world just seems more wondrous than terrifying.
What’s the weirdest conversation you remember hearing about, or the most recent?
I never really overhear conversations because I’m notoriously unobservant when it comes to my surroundings (in my first year of uni, I had to explain to a friend that I didn’t suddenly hate them, I genuinely just never saw them waving or smiling at me because I was off in my old world). That said, I did recently walk in on a coworkers’ conversation to hear, “He absolutely loves being vacuumed”.
Would you rather be in a place that’s too hot, or too cold?
Definitely too cold. Being too cold you can fix with jumpers and heaters but when it’s too hot, there’s only so many clothes you can remove, then you just have to deal with being sticky until the sun sets. Plus I much prefer winter fashion.
If you were to recommend me your favourite book or movie, what would they be?
A really great lesser-known YA novel is “Falling Into Place” by Amy Zhang – it has so many beautiful phrases woven throughout a compelling and heartbreaking story. My favourite movie depends on my mood, but recently I’ve loved “The Big Sick” and “Get Out” (and I’ll happily rewatch “10 Things I Hate About You” forever).
My Best Post:
Technically, my most successful post is Ridiculous easy ukulele songs that don’t suck (it’s genuinely responsible for 95% of my overall views) but my actual favourite post I’ve written is Unshaven: a tale of hairy legs and self-reflection.
3 Things About Me:
- In high school, I would regularly perform (piano + singing) in public. My biggest performance was Coca Cola Christmas in the Park, where I played an original song to a crowd of about 5000 people. It’s a personal goal of mine to get back into performing because it’s an incredible rush and I miss it.
- When I was single, I had a bad habit of accidentally dating people because I was naive and assumed they were just being generous by paying for my food or movie tickets.
- I have still never set foot inside a gym.
