Favourite songs of right now (3)

Let’s pretend that the last time I made a Favourite songs of right now post wasn’t in 2012 and please enjoy this list of my current favourite jams – a mix of indie, synthpop, and regular pop, because I’ve finally broken free of my elitist indie soul:

Animal Tracks

A delightfully inane way to procrastinate is to make playlists with a pointless theme. This animal band themed playlist came from not studying for my psychology exam. Perfect as mood-setting music for a party thrown in honour of your dog, or for crying to while you struggle (and ultimately fail) to learn about synaptic transmission:

  1. “Generator ^ First Floor” – Freelance Whales
  2. “No One’s Gonna Love You” – Band of Horses
  3. “The Gap” – Birds of Tokyo
  4. “Nature’s Hymn” – Sleepy Turtles
  5. “Solitude is Bliss” – Tame Impala
  6. “Home and Somewhere Else” – Mimicking Birds
  7. “Two Weeks” – Grizzly Bear
  8. “Napoleon Says” – Phoenix
  9. “Crooked Lust” – Bowerbirds
  10. “Point Me At Lost Islands” – Tired Pony
  11. “I Found A Reason” – Cat Power

“I feel crazy and powerful” songs

The title is fairly accurate. When you’re feeling awesome and a little mental. Maybe you sometimes feel like this, maybe you don’t. Regardless, these are good songs:

Best Songs Ever Written

(Of course, there is an invisible “IMO” attached to the end of that title.) These particular songs mean a lot to me, whether it’s their lyrics, instrumentation or because they are timeless beauties. I love these songs to death. For a song to make this list means it’s pretty damn special.
